About Spirit Touch

Emotional, creative, soul-stirring and beautiful are some of the adjectives being used to describe Spirit Touch, the third solo album from Joseph Akins, which continues his heartfelt piano artistry with eleven fresh tracks: ten new originals and one modern arrangement of on old classic. Joseph’s performance on a grand piano is featured throughout this album. Mostly solo piano, a few tracks include accompaniment from cello, zen drum, bass and keyboard. Spirit Touch will touch your spirit!

All tracks were recorded at the beautiful Middle Tennessee State University recording studios. Both Joseph Akins and the engineer, Bill Crabtree, are professors in the Department of Recording Industry at MTSU.

About Joseph Akins

Dr. Joseph Akins (pronounced "Ache-ins") is a composer, pianist, keyboardist, recording artist and professor in the greater Nashville, Tennessee area. With a background in performance with notable county, rock and jazz groups, he has released three solo albums of original contemporary instrumental music titled Keys to the Heart, Masterpeace and Spirit Touch. The latter was released in fall of 2009 following the success of the first two, which received worldwide airplay and recognition. He continually travels the United States, often performing with popular contemporary pianists such as David Lanz, Liz Story and David Nevue. He teaches music and music production as an award-winning associate professor at the prestigious Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University.
